What is "conjugation"?

I learn, you learn, she learns and so on. Verb conjugation refers to how a verb changes to show a different person, tense, number or mood. People often wonder why verb conjugation is usually considered the hardest and most important part of learning a language. It's because verbs provide the crucial function of linking concepts together in terms of relations or actions.

Spanish verbs have the following characteristics: tense (present, past and future); person and number (singular and plural) persons and number (I, you, he/she/it, we, you, they); and mood (indicative, imperative and subjunctive). All in all, that creates many possible different endings and combinations.

Lengalia's verb conjugator is a learning tool that allows you to practise the 108 most important regular and irregular verbs in all forms, modes and verbal tenses. Every conjugation comes with an audio clip so that you can listen to the pronunciation as well.

Why is it so effective?

Lengalia's verb conjugator is based on Hermann Ebbinghaus' findings on the psychology of learning. According to Ebbinghaus, you forget things that you have recently learned but, by repeating the learned skills, you can make more and more improvements. Therefore, you can remember vocabulary more easily by repeating it. At the beginning, you should revise little and often but after that, you should take longer breaks and then repeat the vocabulary on a regular basis.
The words that you forget easily should be repeated as often as possible. Those you know well will not need to be repeated so often.

How does the verb conjugator help me learn?

This Spanish learning tool consists of 5 different cells. When you have selected one or more verb tenses, these verb conjugations are automatically loaded into cell 1. As you practise, the verbs conjugations (flashcards) you know are moved to the next cell, while those you don't are returned to cell 1. As soon as cell 1 is empty, it is automatically loaded with more new verbs.
Every time you want to learn verb conjugations, the conjugator will use verbs from cell 1, unless another cell is full. In this case, the conjugator will use that cell instead. Once a verb has passed through all five cells, it will be saved into the "LEARNED" cell, as well as your own long-term memory.
